My son Blue Belted Deu and his Black Belted Japanese Opponent after the fight.IMG_1376

My son lost in the tournament but according to my good friend Mark Armstrong  as quoted,  “In a case like that, winning is not really important. Having the experience is what’s important, and I’m sure it will serve him well. Just qualifying and getting into the tournament is a great achievement– he can be very proud of that.”

And I am so proud of my son 🙂

Here is the video of the fight …  Enjoy!

Still Snowing in Paris

Last night V called me via Skype to show me that Paris is still snowing…   Here are some snap shots that I took using my window’s “snipping tools” while he was showing me the heavy snow along the road in Paris…

Music Passion Update: Spring Has Come Apace And It’s Here… It Promises New Growth… Believe In It, Because You Can Never Hold It Back!

Our Music Passion for the month of March is the word “Spring”
And my offer to you is:

You Can Never Hold Back Spring by Tom Waits

And here are the entries…  Click each of my contributors’ (“says”) and enjoy listening to their Spring Music Passion 🙂

Spring is Here – Yeah…!

a Sisbro Studio Production

I’ve chosen to celebrate with a rumbustious late medieval – early renaissance song, “Ecco la Primavera” (Spring has come apace) by the Italian composer Francesco Landini,
performed here by the hungarian multi-instrumentalist Arany Zoltán.

Spring Has Come Apace

Spring is coming and it promises new growth among established glories blooming once more. As this month’s entry on Music Passion must include spring in either the title or lyric, I chose “Wild Is The Wind” because it serves a double purpose. The song is a soundtrack made for a life-long, passionate love affair. and serves the purpose of this posts main content quite admirably. Last month David bowie released a video (see below) from his first album in 10 years. This month the entire thing is available on Itunes and is due out in stores shortly. But that’s not all. Also opening in London on March 23rd at the Victoria and Albert Museum is the the first international retrospective of the extraordinary career of David Bowie.

Wild Is The Wind

This month the theme is spring – regardless of the fact that the lot of us in the southern hemisphere are moving in to autumn and winter ;-)

So, here’s my contribution to this month’s theme – hope you enjoy!

You Must Believe In Spring

VIRTUOSITY

I see things others could not see
But when these things I see are viewed
Everyone would be inspired, they all glee
They see beauty thru the images that I glued

I could have drama in my creation
Or portray humor in my imagination
Different strokes, unique variation
And of my own taste in coloration

Viewers would feel my inner being
I could not hide any of my wondering
Life I have bestowed, I’m now delivering
With all of my art works, they are shining

My mastery, I have you motivated
Your pains or hurts would all be lifted

The bridge and the Arts

Padlocks of love

According to Wikipedia:

Parapets screened the Pont des Arts is now support for multiple padlocks hung by couples: these are locks of love . These locks typically include entries in the marker (even inscriptions) mentioning the names or initials of two lovers, the date on which the lock was hooked, and possibly a short message.

This practice has appeared on the Pont des Arts in 2008 5 , and has since expanded to the Passerelle Leopold-Sedar-Senghor and the Pont of the Archdiocese . The origin of this practice is rather vague: it appeared in Eastern Europe in the 1980s and 1990s, then spread to Western Europe in the 2000s.

Locks the Pont des Arts are regularly unexplained disappearances akin to vandalism. Between 10 and 12 May 2010, almost all padlocks have been removed during the night without the public authorities are responsible for this suppression. While…

Toothsome Is Crying Her Heart Out For Syria

Free Syria

Help Free Syria!

One of my colleagues who happens to be my best friend here is a Syrian.  I went to visit his Dental Office to give him some sweet and he broke me the news that his University was bombed by their Government Military and around 100 students died.  Click here.

I asked about how his parents are coping with their day to day living, because the last time I talked to his mom was like 3 years ago and Syria was still peaceful back then.

He said that they already lost their family house and everything in there were all stolen and now his parents moved to his house.  His parents and siblings are all there.  He tried to get them and bring them here but unfortunately the  Government here had stopped issuing visa for the Syrian people.  He said they do not have electricity, plus it’s winter too, so his father now of 85 years old is sick.  I asked him if there is a way for them to come out from Syria and go to nearby countries.  He said there is no more airport in Syria and if they will go to Turkey, the refugee camp there is not so accommodating and people are mistreated.  So his parents decided to just stay in his house to live and if they die or got bombed or killed then they die.  They just leave it to God’s mercy.

I just found myself in tears.  How there are people who wish to harm other people only to gain power.

My heart goes to Syrian people and I hope and pray that they will soon be free.

I visited Syria last 2005, and it was really a beautiful country.  Photos below were taken in Aleppo Citadel.  October, 2005.

D D D

And today their own people destroyed their own country.  It’s really sad 😦

Is there anything we can do about it?  Well personally I do not really know how but the only thing I know for sure that I could do is to offer my prayers for them.

I would like to end this post with this country song by Ricky Skaggs. Enjoy!
As we all know Toothsome, she always like us to end our days with a smile 🙂

A Fire Waterfall @ Yosemite National Park–BEAUTIFUL!

A rare sight!!

Yosemite National Park, California , USA
This park was published as a national park in 1890.  It is world famous for its rugged terrain, waterfalls and century-old pine trees (Sequoia).  It covers 1200 sq km and the “fire” waterfall of El Capitan is one of the most spectacular of all the scenery.

The spectacular view of the waterfall is created by the reflection of sunlight hitting the falling water at a specific angle. This rare sight can only be seen at  a 2-week period towards the end of February.  To photograph this rare event, photographers would often have to wait and endure years of patience in order to capture them.  The reason is because it’s appearance depends on a few natural phenomenon’s occurring at the same time, and just plain luck.

1st, is the formation of the waterfall.  The water is formed by the melting of snow and ice at the top of the mountain.  It melts between the month of December and January and by the end of February there might not be much snow left to melt.

2nd, is the specific angle of the sun’s rays hitting the falling water.  The sun’s position must be exactly at a particular spot in the sky.  This occurs only in the month of February and at the short hours of dusk. If it is a day full of clouds or something blocking the sun, you can only take pictures of a darkened waterfall.  It coincides with the fact that the weather in the National Park at that time of the year is often volatile and unpredictable.  It compounds to the difficulty of getting these pictures.  Usually permission has to be allowed to enter the park that time of year, as dangerous road conditions could be hazardous to travel.

Someone did and we all get to see it.

WOW!  I can only imagine seeing it in real life !

🙂
